SAVE DAMILOLA
By OYENIRAN TAWAKALIT
Good Evening Fellow Active Citizens,
I believe that our week has been up to a good start.
My first email on the above subject went out exactly a month ago. I want to thank you all for your tremendous support towards this cause… thank you so much for the show of love in true brotherhood.
As earlier stated, it's an appeal to raise at least N7million (Seven Million Naira) on behalf of Okunola Damilola Samuel for the urgent surgery and treatment required for his kidney transplant.
BACKGROUND- Damilola was diagnosed of Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (collapsing variant) in 2003 at UCH (Hospital Number 103084). In his words, “Aunty, *I am only still alive today because of JCI Nigeria* as there was no other hope for me to continue my dialysis. I am extremely grateful to JCI Nigeria for choosing to take me up as a Project and save my life”… For me, that was quite deep!
We have to continue to pay for his dialysis (which costs about N100,000 per week) until the surgery is done.
RESPONSIBILITY - The responsibility is to make a deliberate effort towards raising a total sum of at least N7m (Seven Million Naira) being the cost of Damilola's surgery.
UPDATE – We started this campaign a month ago and as at this morning (Tuesday 4th April, 2017), the account balance in the Save Damilola Project Account is N2,040,832.49 and USD270 and pledges of over N3m (yet to be redeemed). This simply means that if all pledges are redeemed, we have just about N2m to go…..Meaning, we are almost there!!!
OUR REQUEST FROM YOU - We are well aware that you may have given in the past, but we hope God lays it upon your heart to give again as we go all out this time around to raise the FULL amount failing which we'll have to keep spending from whatever we raise for his weekly dialysis which does not solve the issue completely; yet must not be stopped (according to his Doctors).
SPECIAL APPRECIATION
- To the JCI Nigeria Senate Association for answering our call AGAIN despite the fact that a lot of the members had given last yearwe cannot thank you enough.
- All JCI Nigeria Chapters who have been encouraging members to give, came up with different creative ways to raise funds, shared, regranned, reposted or retweeted our campaign, sent us details of individuals or companies that we could write to for support, introduced us to bloggers who put up our post for free (one of which yielded the US Dollars transfer that is part of the funds raised) etc…. we are extremely grateful.
A SPECIAL APPEAL
- We want to specially appeal to us all to begin to send in our pledges.
- For Chapters that are still contributing, we want to request that you kindly send in all that has been raised so far so as we try to begin to gradually wind down and put funds together for onward transfer to the University College Hospital, Ibadan for Damilola’s surgery.
YES, WE CAN!
- Please retweet our tweets, repost our (FaceBook etc) posts, regran our Instagram posts, send us details of bloggers who can post the campaign on our behalf, get creative about this......let's do a "marathon" of this campaign in the coming days.
Once again, find below the account details once again: -
Account Name: Nigeria Junior Chamber
Bank: Zenith Bank
Account Number: 1014761989
OUR HOPE - We are hopeful that the surgery will be successful and we would leave the work of healing to God, who alone has the power to heal.......Our Faith is in God because ONLY Faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life.
Our hope has not and will not wane and we are still full of trust in God that we will pull this through very soon.
Again, may we never have to repay ourselves in this manner…..Amen!
P.S – Damilola sends his love and appreciation to us all. We have told him to just relax and that at the right time; he will officially thank us all.
#SaveDami
Thank you and God bless us all. Have an Amazing April ahead!
With High Regards,
Adetola Juyitan (JCI Nigeria Ambassador)
2017 JCI Nigeria Executive Vice President (North West)
